A very warm welcome to the new Executive committee.

Pak-Am Day on Saturday August 22nd, 2015 was a big success

Thank you for making Pak-Am Day, Jushn-e-Azadi an enormous triumph. More than 310 people attended the event.

We were honored to have Congresswoman Susan W. Brooks as our Chief Guest. She absolutely loved and fully enjoyed every performance of the stage, including the kid’s dances, the violin solo and the skid,“ShadikeLaddoo.” It was evident by the fact that she stayed over 2 hours as opposed to a planned 1 hour stay.

Attendees were surprised and excited about the “Photo booth.” Everyone had a chance to have a memorable family portrait which is available for review on our website.

Kid’s performances were shimmering. Our solo violin performance was uplifting. “Mehndi Rasm” was a great hit that portrayed our tradition along with the classic “luddi” and “bhangra” dances. The well scripted and acted upon comedy skid, “ShadikeLaddoo” was hilarious that took us through a timeline for a typical marriage.

The debut of “the Art and Essay Competition” was very well taken by the community as evidence by excellent participation from the kids. Winners were awarded with a medal and proud parents were given a chance to take a memorable picture of their honored kids with their awards.

Parents with young kids really appreciated and enjoyed the “Babysitting” service that was offered on the site as a debut, free of charge. Parents were able to enjoy the function and the kids were able to hang out with their friends under supervision.

Dinner was proudly sponsored by our local vendors. People really liked and enjoyed the décor. We were able to serve dinner to all the attendants in less than an hour and a half. People really appreciated the fact that they did not have to wait in line to get the food.

Last but not the least was the Concert. Imran and Soujanya brought the crowd to life. The audience was completely involved. They felt connected to the songs, so much so that a lot of them went on the stage to dance and enjoy. The Finale was “DilDil Pakistan” which was the best way to end the event since that fulfilled the theme of the event. Audience from all ages were on the stage with Pakistani flags in their hand which brought my dream for a jushn-e-Azadi, Pak-Am day to a reality.

Thank You,

Dr. Huma Siddiqui

I’m delighted to invite you with your family and friends to our biggest function of the year, PAK AM day, to be held at Zionsville Community High School on Aug, 22nd 2015. I’m honored to have congresswoman Susan W. Brooks, serving Indiana’s 5th district as our Chief Guest.

The theme for the event is “Jashan-e-Azadi”. Community performances by kids choreographed by our talented members on famous Pakistani national songs. A young talented kid will play instrumental on a very famous patriotic song on violin.

This year I’m debuting “Art and Essay competition” for kids from Elementary to High school. Winners in each category will be given awards at the event.

A tradition to showcase our culture, we will perform “Mehndi Rasam” including glamorous outfits and dances. A short skit “Shadi Ke ladu” production of The Talent Company will certainly make a laugh.

I’m excited to inform you about the singers for the concert. Now this year first time ever we are bringing two singers to entertain you with their melodious voices. Imran Ali Akhtar, fame from “Sur- Kshetra” and Soujanya, fame from “Saregamapa”.

Based on demand from the members, pioneering this year we will provide “babysitting” available for kids between the hours of 5:00 P.M to 11:00 P.M. This will provide opportunity for parents to enjoy the show and kids to have fun with their friends in a monitored environment.

Delicious food will be served followed by savory dessert.

Please come with your family, friends and celebrate the “Jashan-e-Azadi” with us on Aug, 22nd 2015.

Basant Picnic June 6 2015

Applause to all the participants who made the Basant picnic another enormous attainment. I personally would also like to thank all the players who came in early on Saturday morning and amused all of us with “The Greatest Cricket Match in the history of Indiana”. First time ever, everyone had a chance to fly “DESI KITE” in Indiana. Kids had a blast with games including sack race, balloon popping and marble and spoon race. People also enjoyed playing soccer and Frisbee. Women specially enjoyed playing “khokho” and Frisbee.

Let me share few comments from the community that how they felt after the picnic.

“Thank you so much for planning a fabulous afternoon of fun for everyone! The décor colors, food and kids games along with dhol playing in the background really created a festive atmosphere. With the passing of each event, each one gets better and better! We are all enjoying the community camaraderie!!!”

“Yes BIG thank you from my wife and I on creating such a wonderful stage for us and our families to make some crazy memories! You guys (PAFA team) ROCK!!!”

“Dear Huma, Khurram, Jamal, Zakir, Nabiha and Waqar. I would like to say a big THNAK YOU to all for a great PAFA picnic yesterday. Thank you for your dedication and hard work putting on a great event. I know it takes a lot of work and you guys did an amazing job. It was a lot of fun and everything was arranged perfectly with a lot of attention to detail in a very good, positive and fun environment. Looking forward to a great rest of the year!

”It was fun and very well organized…… Hands down…… We should play more often just for enjoyment.”

“The local community witnessed some passionate cricket this weekend and I was amazed that despite playing cricket in Indy for a while, how many cricketers I did not know about; from Atif and Bilal’s teasing bowling line to Zulfiqar’s amazing wicket keeping skills! Also, some clean hitting displays by Azeem, Tariq, Muzaffar, Naveed and also great all around performances by Shahid and Khurram, kept the Indy audience on the edge of their seats. My special gratitude to Sukrat (sunny) who played important part in the field but unfortunately could not get to bat (will be opening with the bat, next time I get a chance to lead!). Thanks to Huma and Khurram and to team Blue for their efforts and participation.”

“I would echo everything that has been already said about hard work, organization, good spirit and comradery. You have to admire Rufi’s gentlemanly approach o captainship where he tries his best to make things inclusive for all in an encouraging manner. “

“Thank you for organizing such a fantastic event. Congrats to all the organizers for job well done. Cricket was fun as always but the environment created was icing on the cake. I play cricket pretty regularly but I haven’t seen this kind of environment in any cricket tournament that I have played here in US. All the cheers from audience and dhol on every boundary or wicket were very entertaining. Once again thank you for your hard work.”

“Thanks to Huma and Khurram for their endless enthusiasm and energy that makes all the difference. And thanks to Alam for so gracefully leading his boys and for being amazing competitors. Thank you so much.”

“Thank you very much for all of you guys. It was good game and we had lot of fun.”

With so much community support, participation, enthusiasm, enjoyment and compliments, all the effort and hard work that I and my team put in is paid off.

This shows the unity, strength and commitment of our community for a better world. Thanks again to be the part of it. Here are some pictures of this event.

Gleaner's Food Drive

PAFA volunteers helped “fight against the hunger”. Everyone made the endurance of waking up early on a beautiful Saturday morning and drove a distance with the ambition of doing something good for the community. They were excited but little nervous for not knowing what they’ll be doing.

Thirty four (34) of our gracious and compassionate volunteers generously gave their time and effort for this noble cause. They helped sort out 3543 lbs of food that will feed 2362 people in a matter of few hours. I should point out that almost half of our volunteers were young kids between the ages of 9-17 years. This was the result of team effort. They all had fun working together in a friendly environment.

At the end of the day, everyone was tired, but had the immense feeling of “personal satisfaction” that superseded all the fatigue. Everyone felt like all the hard work, time and effort was well worth it. In fact they were all ready to do it again. That’s the spirit.

Great job everyone. Here are the pictures of this event.

Sham-e-Ghazal Evening

I’m proud to announce that the first ever Sham-e-Ghazal by PAFA was a clinquant accomplishment. Kudos to all the assemblage. Their dedication and participation made the event extraordinary.

I’m overwhelmed by the response that I received from our community. The energy, dedication and enthusiasm from our community definitely exceeded my expectations. Everyone was enjoying the program including the performers and the audiences evidenced by the fact that many listeners were still requesting their favorite ghazal well past midnight and we ran out of time for the facility. Luckily I was able to extend the facility time and the fans were entertained till the early hours of the morning.

I received innumerable annotations about the evening including astonishing décor, luscious food and palatable “Pan”.

Fans were pleasantly surprised by our hidden talented community performers. They were awed by the variety of music including karaoke, unplug and off course the live performance with Tabla, Harmonium, Guitar and Keyboard.

What gave me the most felicity was the feeling that I got looking at the audience. They were enjoying every song, every beat, every instrument, essentially every moment of the show. It’s hard for me to explain or show the feeling of satisfaction that I had. But, one thing I can say for sure is the fact that all the hard work and effort that we put in for the event became worthwhile with your cooperation and comments.

I would like to thank you and congratulate you for making Sham-e-Ghazal a distinguished and memorable occasion.

Here are the pictures of the event.

Volunteer Appreciation Day was a big success

Thank you for making the volunteer appreciation day, Feb 21ST 2015, the best and an auspicious event.

I’m proud and glad to announce that we had one of the highest number of the audience.

For the first time, adult volunteers were recognized for their hard work, effort with a much deserved award. Also first time, community and corporate sponsors were acknowledged for their generous contributions by awards which were much appreciated. Participant kids were awarded with a certificate that they were thrilled about.

“Kaarma Nation” hypnotized us with their melodious music and exceptional performance. Not only adults but kids also enjoyed the music program as evidenced by the nonstop dancing and singing. Spectators were also entertained by a hilarious skit performed by our well known members.

Success of an event is judged by the involvement of the patrons and their feedback. I had innumerable positive feedback for the entire function regarding the décor, organization, skit, music and the food which included the hit item “karee”.

I again would like to thank and congratulate you for making this event an outstanding one.

I hope for your continued support and participation in the future events.

Thank You

LATEST NEWS

Pakistani-American community is extremely shocked, and deeply saddened by this barbaric act of terrorism against innocent children and teachers at a Pakistani School in Peshawar. By latest news accounts, atleast 141 people—132 children plus nine staffers—are dead.

PAFA (Pakistan American Friendship Association) strongly condemns this, and any other heinous and cowardly act of killing innocent people. Unfortunately Pakistan has been victim of terrorism for the past several years. By some accounts Pakistani civilians and forces have lost more than 50,000 lives to these acts of terrorism and violence.

Our hearts are saddened beyond any measure and we offer our condolences to the family and friends of the innocent people who lost their lives. We strongly believe in raising our voice against this or any other atrocity against innocent people. We hope this will be a turning point for the whole nation. We also hope Pakistanis, being the resilient nation they are, will not give in to this ideology of extremism.

PAFA is planning to hold a prayer vigil for the victims of the Peshawar school attack, on Saturday, Dec 20th, from 11 to 1:00 PM, to honor the lives lost and to show our solidarity and support to the families who fell victim to this terrible acts of violence in Pakistan, and to show we stand with all the victims of terrorism all over the world, and stand against extremism of any kind.
